Alton Fire Department The Alton Fire Department is located in the town of Sodus, Wayne County which is located in western New York State. We provide fire, rescue and EMS response to the residents of the fire district and protective districts located in the towns of Sodus and Huron. We also respond under the Wayne County Mutual Aid Plan to assist neighboring departments. The district primarily consists of agricultural, commercial and residential properties.

Churchville Fire Equipment Churchville Fire Equipment was founded in 1951 by Gerald Spotts, and incorporated in New York State in 1963. When Gerald first started, he personally sold fire extinguishers to local towns and fire departments. This sales effort eventually led to subsequent expansions of the business and new equipment was offered. In 1973 the company became the regional dealer for Pierce Fire Apparatus. In the late 1970's, Churchville Fire also became the exclusive western NYS dealer of Mine Safety Appliances (MSA) and Globe Fire Suits.

After ?much free and uninterrupted discussion? it was agreed that each of the six fire companies at their next monthly meetings would select three members to act as a committee. This steering committee was to meet with the officers of the department on September 6th to present the report relative to forming a national firemen’s association.
